Editorial Policy of Gradus (eISSN 2064-8014)

Gradus is a peer-reviewed, open-access online journal published by John von Neumann University. The journal is committed to promoting high-quality research in a wide range of disciplines including engineering, computer science, economics, pedagogy, and arts.

1. Scope and Language
Gradus accepts original scientific articles in both English and Hungarian. The journal welcomes contributions from a broad spectrum of academic disciplines, with particular emphasis on engineering, computer science, economics, pedagogy, and art.

2. Publication Frequency
Gradus is published at least twice a year, in Spring and Autumn, forming one volume annually with a minimum of two issues. Occasionally, special issues are devoted to topics of particular interest. Proposals for special issues are invited and evaluated by the editorial board.

3. Open Access Policy
Gradus follows a zero-embargo green open-access publishing model. All articles are freely available to readers without subscription or payment immediately upon publication. Authors are not charged any Article Processing Charges (APCs).

4. Archiving and Indexing
All published articles are archived in the REAL-J repository (https://real-j.mtak.hu), ensuring long-term preservation and accessibility.

5. Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo a rigorous peer-review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by two experts: one affiliated with John von Neumann University and one external reviewer. In some cases, both reviewers may be external, from other Hungarian or international institutions. The review process is double-blind to ensure impartiality.

6. Authorship and Contributions
Authors must ensure that all listed contributors have made significant scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.

7. Publication Ethics

Editors and reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.

8. Plagiarism Policy
Gradus does not tolerate plagiarism. All submissions are expected to be original works. While no specific plagiarism detection software is currently used, editors and reviewers are vigilant in identifying unethical practices. Suspected cases will be investigated and may result in rejection or retraction.

Authors retain copyright of their articles published in Gradus. By submitting a manuscript, authors grant Gradus a non-exclusive license to publish the article electronically and to archive it in the REAL-J repository. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), which permits non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use copyrighted materials in their articles.

10. Conflicts of Interest
All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the content or review of a manuscript.

11. Retraction and Correction Policy
Gradus reserves the right to retract or correct published articles if significant errors or ethical breaches are discovered. Corrections will be clearly marked and linked to the original publication.

12. Data Sharing and Reproducibility
While authors are not required to share datasets or code, Gradus encourages transparency and reproducibility. Authors are invited to make supplementary materials available when possible.

13. Appeals and Complaints
Authors may appeal editorial decisions or submit complaints regarding the review process. Appeals must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed by the editorial board.
